45 Baptized in 120 Days of Power Campaign

Forty-five people decided to surrender their lives to Jesus in a baptismal ceremony held at the conclusion of what Pastor Pedro Simpson calls a revolutionary campaign named 120 Days of Power.

Pedro Simpson, district pastor and Hispanic Ministries coordinator for the Ohio Conference, and Spanish District of Cleveland leaders led members on a spiritual and missionary journey which included 40 days of prayer, followed by 40 days of witnessing and another 40 days of preaching intended to gain 40 new souls for the kingdom of Heaven.

Sligo Hosts Homecoming Weekend

This weekend Potomac Conference’s Sligo church in Takoma Park, Md., is hosting their Homecoming 2016 Weekend featuring Ron Halvorsen Jr., as the Sabbath morning speaker and Point of Grace as the featured musicians.

Halverson, former Sligo senior pastor, is the president of the Ohio Conference. Point of Grace, a Dove Award winning Christian trio, will sing during the 11 a.m. service and provide a free 6 p.m. concert at the church.

All service attendees will be provided with a Sligo sticker that will allow them to each lunch at the international luncheon at the Takoma Academy Gymnasium.  The weekend will end with the Annual Tennis Tournament on Sunday morning.

During the two-and-a-half-day Pathway clinic in Beckley, 1,722 people received $6.5 million in free services that included dental procedures, eye exams and medical services such as cardiology, radiology, pediatrics, podiatry, HIV tests and minor surgical procedures, etc. Patients were also offered healthy lifestyle counseling, massages, haircuts and styles, spiritual literature, a vegan lunch and supper, the opportunity to visit the clothing distribution center and prayer with a chaplain. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Kettering Adventist HealthCare's Kettering Medical Centerin Kettering, Ohio,  among the best hospitals for 2016-17. The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 27th year, help guide patients to hospitals that deliver outstanding care across 25 specialties, procedures, and conditions.

Kettering Medical Center is ranked #17 out of 210 hospitals in Ohio, and is recognized among the Best Hospitals in the Dayton metro area and the Ohio River Valley region. It is recognized as high performing in the following specialties:

A Chaplain’s Journey to the Adventist Faith

When Judith Mufuh sat down to watch a video about the Seventh-day Adventist Church for her new job, she had no idea how profoundly it would impact her life. She had recently started working as a chaplain at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, Md., and her manager, Dr. Shelvan Arunan, gave her the video to learn more about the faith-based roots of the hospital.

“When the video ended, my husband and I sat in silence and awe of how inspiring and moving it was,” Mufuh says. “Having studied theology, I was familiar with the history of many denominations, but I was very intrigued by the uniqueness of the Adventist faith.”

1,100-plus Served at Beckley, W.Va., Pop-up Clinic

Diana, a Beckley, W.Va., resident, joined the line at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center in Beckley at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, waiting for dental service. “I’m not afraid of the drill; I’m afraid of the bill,” she says, adding that she hadn’t been to a dentist in six years. "I can't afford dental care."

More than 1,100 patients, many with similar stories to Diana, have been treated at the Your Best Pathway to Health pop-up clinic since it opened Wednesday. As of publishing time, dental volunteers treated 165 people, other volunteer volunteers performed 18 surgeries, 131 HIV tests, performed 420 eye exams, fitted 299 pair of glasses, and provided 117 haircuts and provided 2,205 lunches to volunteers and patients.
