Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center Board of Trustees Participate in Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Adventist HealthCare (AHC) Board of Trustees (pictured), hospital staff and elected officials gathered today for the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new AHC White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, Md.
 
“Today is a chance to say thank you to so many people that made this day a reality,” said Terry Forde (fourth from left), president & CEO of Adventist HealthCare, prior to the ribbon cutting.
 
This comes a week after leaders and members from AHC and the Seventh-day Adventist Church gathered to bless and dedicate the new facility.

A small child about five years old was preparing to go home following a minor procedure at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, Md. The surgery had been successful, and the child was seated in a wheelchair, his parents standing beside him. The nurse was starting the discharge process.

Instead of speaking directly to the parents, the nurse knelt down so that she was eye-to-eye with the child. Carefully, she began to go over the instruction sheet with him, using words that he could understand. She helped focus his attention by showing him what was written on the instruction sheet, and skillfully and methodically, she engaged him in the explanations of each point.

Fort Washington Medical Center to Join Adventist HealthCare in 2019

Adventist HealthCare and Nexus Health/Fort Washington Medical Center announced today that they have signed a definitive agreement to have Fort Washington Medical Center, an acute-care hospital in Prince George’s County, become part of Adventist HealthCare.  The transition should be complete this fall, pending state review.

Fort Washington Medical Center is a 37-bed hospital located just south of National Harbor in a growing section of the region. It cares for close to 40,000 patients a year in its emergency department and, like Adventist HealthCare, has a strong commitment to serving the needs of their community.
